The British Lion and the Chinese Dragon join forces and become the largest manufacturer of creasing matrix in the World!
We are delighted to announce that Channel Shengli, part of C&T International International, has moved to a new purpose built factory in Tianjin to offer outstanding service to the Asian market. The demand for creasing matrix within China has increased drastically over the past 2 years and it has been necessary to improve and invest in our production facility in order to keep up with demand. We have also invested in our people, improving their skills in customer service and production management.
Very close ties exist between the production team in the U.K and China. Peter Houghton, our UK Production Director, has made regular visits to China to offer his support to the team. Peter has advised on new product developments and manufacturing methods.
Quality is key! Sally Miller who is responsible for C&T International’s quality management and health and safety programmes has lent her support in the harmonisation of the total quality systems within our Chinese factory.
Training our team so that they can deliver high quality service is also a key component of our success in China. We are strengthening our Sales Team and Engineering Team with talented individuals who will deliver outstanding customer service. Several members of the team travelled to the U.K where they visited C&T International’s headquarters and centre of excellence, just north of London.
In a recent visit to China, Howard Mead (Commercial Director) and Simon Shenton (Group CEO) delivered several seminars on C&T innovations to our team, die makers and carton manufacturers at our sales headquarters in Shanghai. We are looking forward to the coming year where we will be supporting our customers in the Asian market further.
Our customers where very interested to learn of new innovations including SPEEDPIN and our new self-adhesive profile rubbers.
C&T Matrix is pleased to announce a new strategy of managed inventory for its larger UK customers. Designed to provide an improved service to UK customers, the consignment policy has already been introduced to a several key customers over the last 6 months. It removes the need for customers to manage their own stock and instead provides them with a consignment stock from which they can take product, as and when needed.
The benefits of this new strategy are that customers do not run out of product and it also reduces working capital requirements within these companies. C&T is able to analyse trends in product usage and increase or decrease the consignment stock accordingly. Product is held at the customer’s premises and is available for immediate use, without the inconvenience of having to order from C&T.
Several key UK die makers, as well as larger box convertors, have already adopted C&T’s consignment strategy and this new policy has been a huge success for all concerned. Customers are invoiced only for what they use at the end of each month, and inventory is then topped up at the beginning of the next month.
Simon Shenton, Managing Director at C&T Matrix said “Inventory management is a big issue for many of our customers. We aim to remove the hassle of having to manage raw material stocks and also reduce the financial burden on our customers. In companies where we have implemented this new policy, we have seen a win/win for both C&T and our clients. We are very open to extending this policy to new customers within the UK and I would urge them to contact us to discuss further.”

C&T Channel Matrix has launched ‘RAPIDO’ – a brand new concept in PVC creasing matrix. Following a request from Mito SRL, (C&T’s Italian subsidiary), for a single piece PVC matrix to sell in the Italian market, C&T developed this revolutionary new product which it is now launching in the UK.
Unlike traditional plastic matrix, where the matrix is formed from two separate shoulders, Rapido is made up of a single piece PVC strip out of which the channel is then routed. This single strip design gives the customer huge benefits in terms of product durability and stability as it is impossible for the shoulders to delaminate or split from the base.
Rapido has already been a huge success in the Italian market and C&T is now delighted to offer the product to the UK market as a new innovation in creasing matrix.
Other unique features include a rounded chamfer on both shoulders which assist the flow of the board over the matrix as well as an extra flexible locator, allowing easy removal. Rapido is available in many different sizes with heights ranging from 0.3mm up to 1.4mm. In addition, as well as centred matrix, the Rapido range is also available in special sizes such as mini, off centre and double crease.
Simon Shenton, Managing Director at C&T Matrix said, “Following on from the successful launch in Italy we are delighted to be able to offer Rapido, as a uniquely durable matrix, to the UK market. This latest innovation demonstrates how C&T is leading the way in terms of new products and outstanding service for die cutters, plate makers and the print and packaging industries. We continue to play a global role in ensuring that the evolving needs of the packaging producers are taken into account when it comes to the very latest developments.

In 2013, C&T Channel Matrix launched a revolutionary creasing matrix specifically dedicated to the corrugated board industry. Corrugate was developed to help eliminate costly cracking, registration, runnability and adhesion problems normally associated with creasing corrugated board. Responding to user feedback, C&T has recently announced the launch of new sizes, including a 15mm base for narrower creasing, and an increased choice of items with an internal chamfer finish.
Since its launch, Corrugate has been providing market leading corrugated convertors such as Smurfit Kappa and Saica Groups with an excellent solution to the problems associated with creasing corrugated material.
Corrugate features include a 20mm base which is much wider than traditional products. This wider base results in a stronger adhesion to the plate, thus reducing movement of the matrix, poor registration and even failure to crease. It also eliminates parallel marks known as ‘witness marks’ which can be unsightly and even weaken the board. This wider base also helps to ‘cushion’ the impact of the crease and reduce cracking.
Such has been the success of Corrugate that C&T increased the range in May 2018 to feature a new 15mm base version for narrower creasing areas. Furthermore, a number of new sizes featuring an internal chamfer finish to further reduce cracking have also been added to the range.
Simon Shenton, Managing Director at C&T Matrix said, “The Corrugate range has been a huge success and is now the product of choice for many leading European corrugated convertors. We have listened to the corrugated industry and used our expertise to further improve our Corrugate offering. The new 15mm base version and the new internal chamfer items complete the range and give our customers the widest choice of dedicated creasing matrix for corrugated applications available on the market.”

C&T Channel Matrix, the world’s leading manufacturer of creasing matrix, has extended its wide range of rubber profile products with the addition of Open Cell sheet rubber and EPDM profiles and sheets.
Both new products are targeted at die makers and will complement C&T Matrix’s extensive range of extruded profile rubbers for use in both solid board and corrugated applications.
Open Cell is sourced from a reputable European supplier and is colour coded for Shore hardness. It is available in one and two sided skins and varying heights. EPDM is a soft rubber particularly suited for the corrugated market and is available in both sheet and cut profiles. It is ideal for flatbed and rotary dies.
Simon Shenton, C&T Channel Matrix, Managing Director; “C&T Matrix takes great pride in offering a comprehensive range of profile rubbers. The addition of these new sheet ranges will further strengthen our portfolio and is part of our ongoing strategy to reposition C&T Channel Matrix as the leading ‘one-stop’ provider for all corrugated convertors, carton producers and print finishers”.
C&T Channel Matrix, the world’s leading manufacturer of creasing matrix, introduces SPEEDPIN to its portfolio of products for the die cutting industry. This patented and tested pin is currently being used by many folding carton companies in the UK and Ireland. This product offers converters a reduction in pre make-ready time and improves conversion efficiencies.
SPEEDPIN is fitted in the female stripping board by the die maker and completely eliminates the need for stripping frames and bottom pins, thereby saving time and increasing machine efficiency. It also means no waste is left hanging on the bottom pins and therefore less potential stoppages. Doing away with the pin frame dramatically reduces make ready time as there is no need to neither fit the frame into position nor align bottom pins to the male stripping unit.
Simon Shenton, C&T Channel Matrix, Managing Director; “SPEEDPIN has proved a huge success with those converters who have adopted this new revolutionary system using it as it represents a true innovation in the stripping process”.
