C&T Matrix (C&T) has supplied, and project managed the installation of ADEWO fixed-head laser systems for two of its UK die-making customers, Fast Finish in Northampton and Paragon Cutting Formes in Gateshead.
C&T Matrix is ADEWO’s sales distributor and agent in the UK, providing customers with access to ADEWO laser systems as well as a vast and comprehensive range of high technology die making equipment and rule processing machines.
Two installations, different requirements
Both Fast Finish and Paragon Cutting Formes selected an ADEWO fixed-head laser with 600W power. However, each machine was specified with a different bed size to suit the individual customer’s production requirements, available space and plywood dimensions.
The fixed-head configuration type of laser system is recognised for its high level of accuracy compared with alternative laser configurations such as gantry systems. Accuracy is important when producing precision die boards, where consistent and clean cutting is essential.
Fast Finish selected an ADEWO laser with an 1850 x 1600mm bed, suitable for processing 12mm, 15mm and 18mm plywood for 2pt, 3pt and 4pt applications. For Fast Finish, the investment was driven by the need for additional capacity and greater production security. The company wanted a second machine to provide essential back-up as outsourcing the work can be time-consuming and expensive.
The new ADEWO system therefore gives Fast Finish greater control over its production, giving the company the ability to produce work internally, increasing flexibility and helping to minimise disruption associated with relying on external laser capacity if the main laser was to be out of service.
Paragon Cutting Formes were looking to replace an old table laser which had a slow output and was no longer supported by its manufacturer.
Paragon selected an ADEWO fixed-head laser with a 1600 x 1600mm bed, again suitable for processing 12mm, 15mm and 18mm plywood in 2pt, 3pt and 4pt applications.
The new system has provided a significant improvement in production capability, with increased production speed and output volumes, together with greater accuracy and an improved quality of finish.
Matching the technology to the customer
Howard Mead, Global Sales Director at C&T Matrix, said “Although both companies selected the same ADEWO 600W laser technology, we recognised that the solution needed to be tailored to each individual application.”
“C&T managed the projects from start to finish, matching our customer’s requirements to the appropriate ADEWO system before providing a quotation and managing the purchase, freight, transport and delivery, working with ADEWO to coordinate the necessary engineering training and support.”
This project management approach provided C&T’s customers with a single point of contact throughout the process, while ensuring that the equipment was correctly specified and installed to meet their needs.
“Through our role as ADEWO’s sales distributor and agent in the UK, we are proud that C&T can support die-makers looking to increase laser capacity, replace ageing equipment or introduce greater production flexibility.
